Outlook Not Syncing — Troubleshooting
If your Outlook emails aren't syncing try these steps.
If your Outlook emails aren't syncing or you're seeing old data, try these steps in order.
Step 1 — Check your internet connection
Open a web browser and check you can load a website.
Step 2 — Try Outlook on the web
Go to https://outlook.office365.com and sign in. If your emails are up to date there, the issue is with your desktop app, not your account.
Step 3 — Restart Outlook
Close Outlook completely and reopen it. Wait 2-3 minutes for it to sync.
Step 4 — Check for updates
Open Outlook > File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now. Outdated versions can cause sync issues.
Step 5 — Clear the Outlook cache
- Close Outlook
- Press Windows + R, type
%localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlookand press Enter - Delete the .ost file (this will re-download your emails from the server)
- Reopen Outlook and wait for it to rebuild
